Jerry will be traveling to Nairobi the first week of 2012 to take part in a Live-Dead conference, focusing on unreached people groups in Africa.

Our Work

Our Work

We have lived and worked in southern Africa now since 1999 (Paula) and 2007 (Jerry). We sometimes struggle to explain to others the precise nature of our work, because we have tried hard not to allow what we do be defined by our goals or ambitions, but to instead allow our purpose to be driven by the needs and wishes of the Zambian churches we partner with. So, what do we do? Perhaps the three words on the front of this site sum it up best: love. follow. Jesus. We want to be increasingly caught up in God's plans and purposes, to experience and to make known the love of God in both word and deed (Luke 24:19; 1 John 3:18).More precisely, we are involved in teaching and training pastors and church leaders through theological education. We are also very involved in compassionate minitry and promoting social justice through a variety of avenues, including CHE (Community Health Evangelism) a new organization, Africa AGCare.

Love.

Jesus told his followers to love God with all of their mind, body, soul, and strength, and to love others as we do ourselves (Mark 12:30-31). At minimum, this means that loving God involves every part of who we are, and is expressed in the way we treat and view others.

Follow.

To follow Jesus is to embark on a lifelong journey of transformation, to become like Jesus. To be a true follower of Jesus is to also bring others along (Mark 1:17).

Jesus.

The first two words are obviously verbs. They describe our "doings." But it is this last word-this Name-that ultimately gives any of it significance, direction, and longevity (John 14:6).

About Us

We met in 2003, and after a very long-distance relationship (Jerry was in Pennsylvania, Paula was in Africa), we got married in the summer of 2005.Jerry is a former U.S. Navy photographer, and someone who has known God's grace in abundance. A ten year drug addiction led him to Teen Challenge, where God dramatically turned his life around and gave him a passion to help others discover God's love and forgiveness. Jerry finished his first book, Embracing the Baobab, in 2010. He is currently working on a PhD in Theology and Apologetics. Paula is the daughter of an Assemblies of God pastor, and has wanted to serve God in cross-cultural contexts her whole life. She earned her degree in Physical Therapy from KU, has an MPH from Loma Linda, and has an MA in Intercultural Studies from Global University. Our daughter Charis was born in 2010, and has us pretty much wrapped around her finger.Our burning passion is to pursue God and his purposes with reckless abandon. We both like to write, and our musings can be found on our blog, which is updated rather sporadically.
